2007 STREET STOCK DIVISION RULES

RULES AND SPECIFICATIONS

Cars, parts, and/or equipment will not be considered as having been approved by reason of having

Passed through inspection at any time or any number of times unobserved or undetected. Any car, part, and/or equipment which does not conform to specifications or tolerances contained in this rule book, may not be used in competition at WTS.

                                                             Competing Models               

 

Street Stock division includes any American made passenger car made with a steel roof or fiberglass and a minimum of one hundred eight inch (108") wheel base. From 1970 through current year bodies that are one hundred eight inches (108") must be mounted on the frame so that the front and rear wheel openings are positioned equally front and rear.

 

Bodies

 

A.  Any American made passenger car made with a steel roof and a minimum one hundred eight inch (108") wheel base. Outside of body must be complete.  

B.   Car bodies must be neat, stock appearing and painted.

C.   Aftermarket bodies will be allowed.

D.  Left door window opening may be cut three inches (3") for driver's clearance.

E.   All body parts must be steel of at least twenty two (22) gauge. No opening at firewalls, all holes must be sealed with minimum twenty-two (22) gauge steel.

F.   Hoods, roof, and fenders must have stock lines with no air vents.

G.  Fenders can be cut and/or flared two inches (2") maximum.

H. Body mounts may be improved in stock locations.

I.    Full stock floor must remain in place from front firewall to rear firewall, and door to door. Stock front firewall.

J.    Stock cars without complete windshields must have the rear of the hood sealed or equipped with a deflector to prevent hot liquids from entering the driver's compartment.

K.  Fiberglass bodies will be allowed. Rear spoilers must be clear with no decals permitted on it.

                 H.    Any driver that wins a feature event in 2005 with a 2000 or newer aftermarket body will receive a $100 bonus. Aftermarket bodies will be mandatory for the 2006 season.

 

Windshields

 

Must use Lexan or safety Plexiglas with two (2) securing one-inch (1") by one-sixteenth inch (1/6") straps.  A screen must cover the rest of the stock windshield area.

 

Front Nose

 

Breakable nose or header panels are to be replaced with stock appearing metal or after-market unbreakable parts. Radiator air scoops are permitted.

 

Toe Hooks

 

Please provide toe hooks under rear deck lid and under front hood.

 

Wheel Base

 

The minimum wheel base that will be permitted is one hundred eight inches (108") plus or minus ½”.

Ground Clearance

 

Five inches (5") minimum ground clearance with driver in car. No weight jacking devices from driver compartment.

Car Total Weights

 

Three thousand three hundred fifty  pounds (3,350 lbs.) race ready with driver. After a twenty (20) lap race, fifty pounds (50 lbs.) weight loss to be deducted from the minimum weight of the car. Allowances for extra distance events may be made at the official's discretion. The maximum left side weight shall be 56%. Any car running the Jasper crate motor will receive a 100 pound  weight break. This weight break may be changed as needed, to keep the two engines competitive.

 

Added Weight

 

A.  Any bolt on lead must be painted white with car's number on it. (Ingots only)

B.  All weight must be securely mounted between the frame rails.

C.  No adding weight of any kind after an event.

D. Bolted on Ingots must use minimum three eighth inch (3/8") bolts.

E.  Jacking bolts will be allowed.

 

Brakes

 

Only four (4) wheel hydraulic brakes are allowed. They must be in good working order and are subject to official testing prior to competing in any racing event. Stock cast-iron calipers and steel rotors will be allowed. Steel braided brake lines will be permitted. Aftermarket master cylinder and brake pedal assemblies are permitted. Master cylinders must be located in the driver’s compartment.

 

Bumpers

 

Front and rear bumpers must be stock for a production automobile extending from left fender to right fender, and have space between bumper end and fender fully closed so that bumpers cannot hook or gouge other cars. Front and rear bumpers must be mounted at center hub height. Bumper ends must tie into frame.

 

Nerf Bars

 

A single bar must be flush with outside of body at center hub height and be capped.

 

Corner Bars

 

Corner bar from frame must be tight against body, connected to inside of bumper and mounted at center hub height.

 

Steel Tubing Sizes for Side and Corner Bars:

 

Bars will be no smaller than one and one quarter inches (1 ¼") or larger than one and three quarter inches (1 ¾") of steel tubing.  Steel tubing thickness will not be less than .083 inches.

 

Clutches and Bell Housing

 

Stock clutch only. Bell housing must have opening for visual inspection.  Bell housing must be magnetic steel only. O.E.M. steel pressure plate required, O.E.M. ten and one half inch (10 ½") minimum diameter clutch and pressure plate with full face only.  Pressure plate, steel flywheel and disk must stay stock with no alterations! Hydraulic clutch bearing permitted. Aftermarket clutch master cylinder and clutch pedal assembly permitted. Assembly must mount in engine compartment. The minimum weight of the clutch disc, pressure plate, and flywheel assembly will be thirty pounds.

Starter

 

Starter must be in stock location.

 

Battery - Alternator

 

A.  Any twelve (12) volt battery may be used (gel type preferred). Batteries must be shielded and located outside driver's compartment between frame rails.

B.   Alternators must be operational. Alternator pulley may be changed.

C.   A labeled on/off master battery switch must be in plain view, conspicuously marked, and easily accessible. 

 

Engine Rules

 

1.   Engines:  North American manufactured engines allowed.

 

2.   Blocks:  Must be a stock V-8 cast-iron production block with maximum overbore to .040".

 

3.   Cubic Inches: Maximum stock engine displacement of three hundred fifty seven (357) cubic inches for Chevrolet, three hundred fifty six (356) cubic inches for Ford, and three hundred sixty five (365) cubic inches for Mopar.

 

4    Crankshaft: Stock steel crankshaft type is only allowed and must maintain stock stroke of manufactured engine block used. No alterations of any kind other than balancing. The minimum crankshaft weight will be 48 pounds.

 

5.   Rods:  Stock production type O.E.M. for block used.

 

6.   Pistons: No dome pistons allowed. Pistons must be similar in design to oem for the make of block used.

 

7.   Camshafts: Hydraulic camshafts only with timing chain. 

     

8.   Valve Springs: Stock diameter valve springs only.

 

9.   Compression:   No more than nine to one (9 to 1) allowed. WTS's K-Tech tester will be the legal tester. A hole must be drilled in the bell housing in order to turn the engine to check compressor.

 

10.   Rocker Arms:  Stock rocker arms for engine block and heads used. Aluminum roller rockers will be allowed.  

 

11.   Valve Lifters:  Hydraulic valve lifter to manufactured block. Lifter bores must remain stock O.E.M. diameter for block used.

 

12.   Valves: 

 

      A.  No altering of valve guide angle or location.

      B.   Stock valve angles and spacing for head used.

C.   Steel valve only.

 

13.   Heads:  All cylinder heads must be cast-iron O.E.M. Chevrolets must run heads that are produced with a maximum of 1.94" intake valves. No vortex head or bow tie heads permitted. Intake valve must be maximum 1.94". Exhaust valve must be no larger than 1.50". Ford Windsor must run heads with a maximum intake valve size of 1.86" and exhaust valve size of 1.55". Ford Cleveland must run open chamber heads of two (2) barrel design with a maximum intake valve size of 2.05" and exhaust of 1.66". Mopar 360 cid must run heads with a maximum intake valve of 2.02" and exhaust valve of 1.60". No TA W2 or magnum R/T heads permitted. The only modifications allowed will be the milling of the head gasket surface and screw-in studs with guide plates.  Optional valve seals, poly locks or jam nut devices are allowed. Machining of valve guide bosses for seals only.

 

14.   Intake Manifold:   The only permitted intake manifold will be the following, Edelbrock performer with the following part numbers:

 

1.      Chevrolet   2101

2.      Chrysler     2176

3.      Ford           2181

No porting, polishing, or acid dipping of intake permitted. The intake manifold must remain stock as manufactured by Edelbrock.

 

15.   Carburetors:

 

A.  Only stock unmodified (other than choke removal) two (2) barrel carburetors permitted. Holly 4412. No adapters or spacers allowed. Must bolt directly to the manifold. No more than two (2) stock gaskets may be used. No performance version of Holley 4412 permitted.

B.   Carburetors allowed: Holly 4412.

C.  No sleeve venturies allowed.

D.  No air ducts or cowl induction permitted.

 

16.   Ignition:

 

A.  (H.E.I.) self-contained ignition system will be permitted.

B.   The distributor must mount in the stock location and maintain the same firing order as a factory produced engine.

C.   No outside ignition box or outside coil allowed. Ford and Mopar must run stock type box and coil. DUI replacement distributor allowed on Ford & Mopar with coil in distributor cap.

 

17.   Engine Location:  The block must be in stock location, with solid type motor mounts through stock holes. Motor may not be moved in any direction from stock position.

 

18.   Oiling System and Pan:

 

A.  Stock after-market appearing pans.

B.   No vacuum systems.

C.   Stock O.E.M. oil pump, must be at stock location.

D.  The use of combustion enhancing oils or additives are not permitted.

E.  Inspection plug of one inch (1") between cylinders three (3) and five (5).

 

19.   Radiators and Overflow:

 

A.  Radiator must be located in front of engine.

B.  Overflow hose must be directed out towards right side of frame near the

      front roll cage bar.

C.   Only water or WTS approved coolants or additives may be used in the

      cooling system. Must bring pan(s) to drain fluids for a head check.

D. After-market radiators allowed.

 

20.   Rear Ends and Axles: 

 

A.  Rears may be interchanged among manufacturers.

B.   Rears must be locked by welding spider gears or use a mini spool.

C.  No aluminum rear end parts of any kind or full spools.

D.  Racing axles only.

E.   No positraction, limited slip, or locker rear axles allowed.

 

21.   Hubs:  Safety steel  hubs may be used.

 

2.     Wheels:  Magnetic steel eight inch (8”) wheels.

 

23.   Seats:

 

A.  Only custom manufactured aluminum seats approved by track officials will be permitted.

B.   At least four (4) bolts of five sixteenth inch (5/16") high quality bolt at bottom of seat. With two (2) bolts to fasten the back of the seat to roll cage (6 total). Must have one-inch (1") by one-eighth inch (1/8") straps between bolts. 

C.   Head cushion is mandatory and should meet center part of helmet.

 

24.   Shocks:  Steel smooth body non rebuildable, non adjustable shocks only. No bleeder valves permitted on shocks.

 

25.   Steering Components:

 

A.  Steering shafts require at least five-eighths inch (5/8") shaft with safety U-joints.

B.   Steering wheels made only of metal will be permitted.

C.   Center of steering wheel post must be padded.

D.  A quick-release magnetic steel coupling on the steering wheel is mandatory.

E.  Steering box only.

F.  Stock OEM tire rods and center link assembly for make 08 chassis only.

 

26.   Transmission:  Standard transmissions both stock cast-iron or aluminum cases. At least two (2) forward, one (1) reverse. Automatic transmissions permitted with a stock converter and safety diaper.

 

27.   Drive Shaft:

A.  One piece steel drive shaft with steel U joints and yokes required. Drive shaft must be painted white.

B.   Two (2), three hundred sixty-degree (360o) solid steel brackets of two inches by  

     one quarter inch (2" x ¼") around drive shaft.

 

28.   Frame:  Frame must be stock for body used. Midsections between front and rear clips can be strengthened using two by three (2 x 3) box tubing inside and through the stock floor

 

A. Rear Frame can be altered from rear end axles rearward towards bumper. All mounts must be stock and in stock location.  May install adjusting wedge bolts.

B.   Front Frame must stay stock up to front of steering box. Can use adjuster kits for stock type sway bar.

C.  Tubular upper ‘A’ frames allowed on stock mounts. In stock location A frame mounts may be reinforced for safety. The inside edge of the upper mount must remain unaltered.   

 

29.  Roll Cage:

 

A.  All roll cage material must be at least one and three quarter inches (1 ¾")

      in diameter with at least .090 wall and must be welded to the frame.

B.   Front and rear hoops should not be angled more than twenty degrees (20o)

      rearward.

C.   At least four (4) bars on left side and three (3) bars on right side of roll cage.

D.  All roll cages should have these bars as listed: main roll bar, two (2) front roll bars, roof bar, center line roof bar, diagonal main roll bar, dashboard bar, right and left door bars, left side driver head bar, vent bars, rear down bars, front down bars, center windshield bar, vertical support bars and front hoop bar.

E.   Roll bars must be welded and gusseted.

F.   All bars must be padded wherever head or body may strike during an

      accident. 

G.  All frames must be approved by the pit steward or safety inspector.

 

30.   Suspensions: Rear suspension must remain stock for make and model of chassis. Rear leaf springs must remain similar in design to OEM for make of chassis. Front suspensions must be unaltered O.E.M. and be in stock locations, excluding front shocks. Must be replaceable by stock parts from the same type suspension. Stock passenger car spindles only.  Bushing may be replaced with stock dimensions after-market parts that do not require alterations of suspension piece or mount. Jacking or wedge bolts may be installed along with relocating front shocks. Tie Rods, spindles, and lower A frames must remain stock and unaltered for make and model of chassis.

 

31.  Accessories:

 

A.  Two way radio communication will be permitted. No crew communication allowed.

B.   No traction control devices allowed!

C.  Aftermarket pullies allowed on engine.

 

32.   Mufflers:  Dynamax mufflers PN# 24215.

 

33.   Exhaust Manifolds: 

 

A.  Stock exhaust manifolds only. No center dump manifolds. Maximum two inch (2") outlet. No machining, porting, or polishing allowed.

B.   The exhaust must extend to at least the rear of the driver and shall not exceed two inches (2") outside diameter.  Exhaust must not leak.

C.   No crossover "H" pipe on exhaust system.

D.  1 5/8” diameter headers allowed. Must bolt direct to block. (No header plates).  Recommended manufactures:  Schoenfeld or Headman Headers.  No 180 degrees or crossover headers permitted.

 

34.   Fuel run /Fuel Cell:

A.  Gasoline only.

B.   Gas will be checked periodically by race officials for additives.

C.   No cooling cans or nitrous oxide.

D.     All WTS track fuels must be used in competition and purchased at the track.

E.      All cars must have an approved fuel cell located within the frame rails, behind the rear firewall. A reinforcing member of the same kind and size material as that used in the roll cage or chassis shall be installed to the rear of the fuel cell join in the rearmost portion of the chassis. Fuel cells must be secured by at least three steel straps. Each strap shall be a minimum one inch wide and one eight inch thickness. Each strap shall be bolted with at least two 5/16 three line bolts. Maximum 22 gallon cell. No fuel lines can run thru the drivers compartment. Cars not utilizing an “x” type frame shall have four one inch straps ¼ inch thick bolted to the frame of the vehicle and angled to go entirely around the cell to apply maximum pressure against the tank to the frame..

 

35.   Tires:

 

            A.  Track tires only.

            B.   No tire softeners

 

36.   Gas Pedal and Linkage:

 

A.  Must have return tab for foot on gas pedal.

B.   Two (2) return springs on linkage.

C.     No cables

37.   Sealed Engines: All engines must be sealed before starting any race.  Engine must be stone cold for compression and cubic inches to be checked. Any tampering with seal will result in forfeiting winnings and championship points. It is the driver's responsibility to have engine sealed.

 

 38.PERSONAL SAFETY EQUIPMENT:

 

Each competitor is solely responsible for the effectiveness of personal safety equipment used during an event. WTS is not responsible for the effectiveness of any personal safety equipment.

Each competitor is expected to investigate and educate himself/herself with respect to the availability and effectiveness of personal safety equipment.

 

PROTECTIVE CLOTHING:

All drivers competing in events at WTS are required to wear fire resistant underwear and one piece fire resistant clothing covering their body, legs, and arms as well as fire resistant gloves, socks, and shoes to cover their hands and feet. Material used in manufacturing of this clothing must be approved by the New Jersey Division of State Police. It is the responsibility of the driver, not WTS to insure that he  or she, maintains, wears, and properly uses protective clothing.

 

FIRE EXTINGUISHERS:

All cars must have an approved fire extinguisher securely mounted within the driver’s reach. All pit crews must have a fire extinguisher.

 

HELMETS:

Drivers must wear a helmet carrying at least a valid SA1995 or SA2000 standard snell sticker at all times.

The driver must wear the helmet in accordance with the directions provided by the helmet supplier and/or manufacturer. Any modification to the helmet for any purpose should not detract from its effectiveness.

 

HEAD AND NECK RESTRAINT DEVICES/SYSTEMS:

At all times during an event (practice, qualifying, and competition) drivers must connect their helmet to a WTS approved head and neck restraint device/system. The head and neck restraint device/system when connected, must conform to the manufacturer’s mounting instructions, and it must be configured , maintained and used in accordance with the manufacturers instructions.

It is the responsibility of the driver, not WTS, to insure that his/her device/system is WTS approved, correctly installed, maintained and properly used.

                                                                              

SEAT BELTS:

Each car must be equipped with a WTS approved seat belt system. The seat belts must be mounted according to the manufacturers specifications. Seat belts and shoulder harness must bear the date of manufacturer and be no more than two years old. A five point seat belt system is required.

 

SAFETY NET:

An approved safety net must be securely mounted on the driver’s  side of  the race car.

 

These are the general guidelines for all cars that  compete in this division at WTS. If these rules do not clearly say that something is legal, assume that it is not permitted.
