Roslin, Hopkinson Repeat Wall Legends Winners

WALL TWP., N.J. -- Daniel
Roslin, of Little Egg Harbor Twp., and Derek Hopkinson, of Toms River, were
respective Saturday and Sunday Wall Township Speedway Legends Cars winners.
Roslin added another WTS
INEX Legends Cars feature victory to his total during Scott Motor Coach Sales
Fan Appreciation Night. The Calabreeze Pools No. 03 driver came from 15th
place among 24 starters to win the 25 lap divisional headliner. Roslin began
advancing while local Legends Cars/Bandolero dealer John Hugate took initial
control. Hugate, who owns and operates RTS Performance from Ewing, held off
Francis Cottrell despite Bruce Roslin, Steve Stull and Mike Alcaro having
problems by lap five.
Cottrell took command
from Hugate, who would fade to 12th place at the finish, by lap 10. Whitey
Kowalczyk and Value Towing Factory Stock vet Dan Collamer - in for Robert
Geibel - challenged before they either spun or encountered mechanical woes.
Daniel Roslin ousted Cottrell
on a lap 13 single file restart and went on to a .364 sec. victory. Mike
Stull held off former White Lake (N.Y.) Speedway regular Todd McCollum for
third. Former class champion Bryan Gardella and Mark Tischler rounded out
the top six of 18 finishers.
Former Value Towing Factory
Stock winner Tischler was driving his ex-Stull Racing blue No. 0 to sixth;
Matt Marring, who usually drives the No. 02, was driving the Alcaro-owned
green No. 0. Tischler started driving the green 0 before obtaining the blue
0 which he recently won a feature with. WTS officials are asking one or the
other team to change numbers before Sept. 22's USG Sheetrock Night.
Alcaro and Robert Geibel
split the 10-lap heats -- but had their night turn for the worst. Alcaro,
who had a running order disagreement with track officials on lap 19, was
sent to the pits and was placed 21st. Geibel's Kickin Motorsports team then
called in Collamer to be substitute driver in the No. 15 -- who finished
17th. Calabreeze Pools team patriarch Bruce Roslin, one of six non-finishers,
was placed 24th and last. Results printouts had the race run all 25 laps
although the scoring tower counted 24 when the checkered and yellow flags
were shown.
Hopkinson meanwhile picked
up his second straight Wall Sunday Series Calabreeze Pools Legends victory
Sunday afternoon. The N&P Racing No. 17 600 Racing-Yamaha driver came
from sixth starting spot to chase down polewoman Danielle Ostrander within
their feature's first two laps. Hopkinson passed Ostrander on lap four and
would not be headed the remaining 16 laps on the one-fifth-mile inner oval.
He had to endure eight restarts and pressure from Ryan Truex, Jr., however,
before he could clinch the victory. Karl Hiesler and Joe Mattis rounded out
the top five of eight finishers. Ostrander, who won the 10-lap heat, salvaged
sixth. Jason Forrester and WSS Debutant John Gloor IV were the two non-finishers.
Tyler Papps, in his second start, was black flagged on the 19th lap after
six spins and was placed seventh.
The INEX Legends cars
return to the banked paved one-third-mile oval Saturday; The WSS resumes
Noon Sept. 30.
