Spectator
seating will open at 4:00 p.m. on April 3, with qualifying starting at
5:15 p.m. and main events taking the green flag at 6:30 p.m.
Although
Okerson, also a multi-time Pro Stock champion at the stadium, is
currently at the top of his game, he will have plenty of competition
in his quest for opening night glory. Shaun Carrig of Little Falls,
Tim Arre of Toms River, Freehold’s Steven Reed, Matawan’s Anthony
Sesely and Dave Cranmer of Shrewsbury are just a few of the area’s
standout Modified drivers expected to go for the win and the
season-long driving title.
While
the April 3 “Thunder at the Shore” opening night event will
feature a 40-lap main event for the Wall Modifieds, also on that
agenda will be the Sportsman racers, Street Stocks and Legend Cars in
25-lappers and the Factory Stocks in a 20-lap main event. All five
feature races will award points towards the season-long driving
championships.
The
current schedule for the April 3 season opener will see the competitor
pit area open at 1:00 p.m., with a paid testing session for
competitors then running from 1:30 until 3:30 p.m. The regular
afternoon practice session will then begin at 3:30 p.m., while
spectator seating will open for the first time this season at 4:00
p.m. Qualifying will start at 5:15 p.m. before main events roll out
onto the track at 6:30 p.m. sharp.
Time
is running short for Wall Stadium stock car racers to fine tune their
cars for the 2010 season opener. With that April 3 “Thunder at the
Shore” stock car lid-lifter at Wall Stadium on the horizon, teams
will get one more chance to prepare for the first event of the 2010
campaign this Saturday (March 27) with a paid practice session from
11:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. On Saturday, grandstand admission will be
free of charge.
Wall
Stadium is located on Route 34 in Wall Township, N.J., just one mile
north of Garden State Parkway exit 98 and Interstate 195 exit 35B. The
speedway office is open from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. Monday through
Friday and all day Saturday during events. The speedway hotline number
is 732-681-6400, while more information is also available at www.wallspeedway.com.
