MEMORIAL 50" SET
FOR WALL STADIUM ON SATURDAY, JULY 3 WALL TOWNSHIP, N.J. ~ Competitors in the popular Street Stock division at Wall Stadium will be in the spotlight this Saturday night (July 3) as they battle for glory in the second annual "Bobby Thomas Memorial" 50-lap championship event. The speedway's "summer schedule" will be in effect for this racing program with spectator seating opening at 4:00 p.m., qualifying starting at 6:30 p.m. and main events getting the green flag at 7:30 p.m. Bobby Thomas was a long-time supporter of racing at the shore speedway serving on the pit crews of several teams over the years. Along with working for the "International Race of Champions," Thomas was best known for his smile and his willingness to help any team at his much loved Wall Stadium. Bobby Thomas passed away a few years ago. Among the drivers looking for victory in the event will be defending division champion Carl Thomas of Tinton Falls, Bobby Thomas' son. Also included in the list of favorites will be Ray Minieri of Bay Shore, N.Y., Howie Conk of Jackson, Bill Vanderveen of Beachwood, Jerry Stanzione of Keansburg and Gregg Miranda of Hazlet. Time trials are planned to set the field for the 50-lapper. In addition to the Street Stocks, the Supreme Manufacturing Modifieds will race in a 40-lapper, the Sportsman and Legend Cars divisions will compete in 25-lap main events and the Flanagan Retail Development Factory Stocks will race in a 20-lapper. Pit gates will open at 12:30 p.m. on July 3, with a paid practice session set from 1:30 p.m. until 3:45 p.m. The regular practice session will be up at 4:00 p.m., while grandstand seating will also open at 4:00 p.m. Qualifying is set for 6:30 p.m. and main event action is set for 7:30 p.m. This Saturday night "summer schedule" will be in effect through Labor Day weekend. The speedway's Sunday Series will be off on Sunday, July 4, in observance of the Independence Day holiday and will return to action on July 11. Wall Stadium presents professional motorsports events on most Saturdays and Sundays during the summer months. The speedway is located on Route 34 in Wall Township, N.J., just one mile north of Garden State Parkway exit 98 and Interstate 195 exit 35B.
