WALL, TWP., N.J. -- Kevin
Flockhart, of Jackson, led five other Wall Township Speedway drivers from
contenders to class titlists here on Scott Motor Coach Sales/Scouts Night
Saturday. Flockhart overcame an early race suspension part break to finish
fourth to fellow Jackson resident and modified feature winner Jason Treat.
Steve Reed, of Freehold, saw his points lead vanish after his transmission
linkage locked into top gear and spun three times into 18th place. The
season-ending double points race gave 2004 WTS track champion Flockhart and
his Crestwood Jewelers/Faust Contractors No. 12 Sisco-Chevrolet his second
NASCAR Whelen All-American Series title. Pole man Treat meanwhile held off
Tim Arre and 17 other starters by .236 sec. in the 40-lap headliner. The
victory is a career first for the four-year driver and his No. 33 Treat
Fabrications-Chevy.
Marc Nappi, of Howell,
also held off Robert Geibel from the pole to win his first career RMP Modified
Affordable Division feature. Nappi has been running father Anthony's Material
Solutions No. 14 Troyer-RMP Chevy all year. Danny Bohn, of Freehold, brought
his Reid Sod Farm No. 659 Bohn/Megill-RMP Chevy home third to successfully
defend his class crown.
Six-time Sportsman champ
Chas Okerson, of Freehold, kept his McCurdy Well Drilling No. 99 ScottKar-Chevy
up front to win his 25-lap feature. Kevin Eyres, of Colts Neck, and his AVIS
No. 21 Rondeau-Chevy finished second, .927 sec. behind, to narrowly win his
first WTS title.
Defending class champ
Bill Vanderveen, of Beachwood, ousted poleman Jerry Stanzione lap 10 to win
the 25-lap street stock feature. The Cosmo's Green Acres Auto Recycling No.
19 Chevy Monte Carlo driver could not keep Rich Mongeau, of Manchester, from
bringing his No 77 A-Plus Towing Monte Carlo/Camaro home sixth. Mongeau now
has a sixth street stock championship.
Joe Constandi, of Flemington,
finished first and passed post-race technical inspection to win the Value
Towing Factory Stock feature. The Fratesi Masonry No. 22 Monte Carlo driver
had finished first Sept. 29 until scrutineers found "illegal internal parts"
and awarded the victory to Ted Walters, of Manchester. Vern McLaughlin III,
of Whitehouse Station, meanwhile clinched his divisional laurels by finishing
fourth aboard his Absolute Auto Wrecking No. 06 Chevy.
Don Neuls, of Hamilton
won Turkey Derby qualifier bragging rights by winning his second INEX Legends
Cars feature of the year with his Stull Racing Cray Electric No. 19 600
racing-yamaha. Mike Fulton, of Bridgewater, who was crowned divisional champ
here Sept. 29, and his Auto Creations No. 90 600 Racing-Yamaha finished ninth.
The Legends had its double-points race last Saturday so its drivers can prepare
for the 600 Racing Asphalt Nationals Oct. 10-12 at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway
Bullring.
All six feature winners
qualified for Turkey Derby XXXIV, set for Nov. 23-24. The Saturday night
racers are to meanwhile practice on the banked paved one-third-mile oval
Nov. 10 and 17. The Wall Sunday Series is to conclude on the one-fifth-mile
inner oval noon Oct.21 Grandstand admission is free.
