RICHARD
PETEY DRIVES TO IMPRESSIVE ENDURO 100 WIN
AT
WALL
STADIUM JULY 11
WALL
TOWNSHIP, N.J. ~ Veteran racecar driver Richard Petey drove to an
impressive victory on Saturday night by winning the 100-lap Big Car
N.E.E.T.S. Enduro race at Wall Stadium. It was the second time that
the N.E.E.T.S. racers have competed at Wall Stadium in the Able Ford
Subaru Racing Series this season.

Petey
was in the top five throughout the early stages of the event, while
several drivers took turns at leading the contest. Dan Birdsall took
the lead at the outset, until Steve Weber drove into the lead at the
12 lap mark. Former Wall Stadium Street Stock champion Rob Longo moved
to the head of the class at lap 25 and paced the field until Mike
Parisi took control on the 31st circuit.
Parisi
was the star of the show until the 37th lap when Longo again took over
the lead. Petey was steady in the top five until this point when he
started to make a run to the front. By the half way mark Petey was in
the lead and was chased by runner-up Mike Ebert all the way to the
finish. Elliott Wohl, Tim O’Shea and Bill Anderton completed the top
five.
The
race suffered a major crash on the front stretch in front of the large
grandstand crowd during the middle of the event when several cars
tangled. The cars of Bob Kolik, Tim Flanagan and Anthony Bell all
suffered heavy damage, but no injuries were reported.

Former
speedway champion Vern McLaughlin raced home to the win in the
companion 100-lap Enduro for the Small Cars. Dave Bentley finished
second and was the only car on the same lap as the leader. Jon
Saccomondi, Kenny Wallace and Jeff Walls wrapped up the top five.

Young
Roger Coss grabbed his second win of the year in the 25-lapper for the
INEX Legend Cars, holding of Mark Tischler, Mike Alcaro and bothers
Steve and Mike Stull. The 4C Supermodifieds were also on the agenda
and Mike Renn of Medford, N.Y. took the win.

Mellisa
Simms was the winner of the special “Ladies Race” using Enduro
cars. Danielle Ostrander and Sue Simpson were second and third.
Action
continues this Saturday night (July 18) with the annual running of the
“Garden State Classic 150” for the Red Bank Sleep Shoppe Modifieds.

racers, the INEX Legend Cars and the Street Stocks, as well as a
