ANTHONY
SESELY (MODIFIED) AND ZACK ALSPACH (LEGEND CARS)
WIN
40 LAPPERS AT WALL STADIUM SATURDAY
WALL
TOWNSHIP, N.J. ~ Anthony Sesely of Matawan and Zack Alspach of
Willingboro have a lot in common. Both up and coming Able Ford Subaru
Racing Series drivers started their racing careers at a young age.
Both have impressively climbed the ladder of success at Wall Stadium
this season. On Saturday night, both added another common item to
their racing resumes as each won his division’s 40-lap main event
and posted their first ever feature race win at the third mile paved
oval.

In
the Red Bank Sleep Shoppe Modified 40-lapper, Sesely rocketed his
black No. 77 to the front at the outset and never looked back. He did
peak in his mirror from time to time, however, and saw that it was
full of Little Falls’ Shaun Carrig who hounded him all the way to
the finish. Eventual third place finisher Chas Okerson of Freehold was
also in the thick of the race for the win most of the way. Tim Arre of
Toms River and Farmingdale’s Billy Cole were fourth and fifth.

“They
say that pole shots are easy,” Sesely said in reference to his pole
starting position. “But this one wasn’t. That was the toughest
40-laps I’ve ever driven. I have to say that Shaun Carrig is a total
gentleman on the track. He ran me as tough as you can for 40 straight
laps, but he drove me clean on each of them.”

Like
Sesely, Alspach started from the pole and paced the field every lap of
the way. Also like Sesely, Alspach was hounded every lap by one of the
best in the business, Steve Stull of Hamilton. Added to Stull’s
pressure was the fact that Alspach led every lap of the previous
week’s main event only to loose it due to a lapped car on the final
circuit. Alspach didn’t let that happen again as he paced Stull,
Brick’s Bryan Gardella, Mike Stull of Trenton and Derek Hopkinson of
Toms River at the finish.

Kevin
Eyres of Colts Neck took the lead of the Calabreeze Pools Sportsman
main event from Bernie Bailey of Sayreville on the eighth lap and went
on to win his second straight 25-lapper in a row. Jackson’s Jason
Treat, Christian LaCicero of Lavallette, Toms River’s Charlie Kremer
III and Matt Przemielewski of Toms River wrapped up the top five after
Bailey and Brick’s Robert Sutphin crashed into the turn two rail
while battling for second on the last lap.

Gregg
Miranda of Hazlet wrestled the lead away from former champ Dave
Jennings of Howell on the 15 circuit and went on to win the 25-lap
main event for the Street Stock racers. Carl Thomas of Tinton Falls
slipped past Jennings for second, while Mike Kennedy of Pt. Pleasant
and Beachwood’s Bill Vanderveen completed the top five.

Brick’s
Paul Hartwig, Jr. grabbed his career first win in the 20-lap Flanagan
Retail Development Factory Stock feature race after grabbing the lead
on the fourth lap. Jameburg’s Whitey Miller, Mike Bilello of
Neptune, Union’s Joey Helberg and Richard Petey of Hackettstown were
second through fifth.
