JOEY
HELBERG IS BIG WINNER OF 75-LAP FACTORY STOCK TEST
SATURDAY
(APRIL 24) AT WALL STADIUM
WALL
TOWNSHIP, N.J. ~ Although Union's Joey Helberg was in
contention for the win most of the 75-lap distance, fans who
attended Wall Stadium's "Family Fun Night" pro auto
racing card on Saturday night might be surprised that he was
eventually awarded the Flanagan Retail Development Factory
Stock victory. That is because Flemington's Tom Fratesi
grabbed the lead on lap 27 and held off Helberg to the finish
line.
What
fans did not know was that Fratesi's No. 22 failed a post-race
inspection and that handed the win to the second place
finishing Helberg. The final running order was shuffled even
more when Fratesi's racing teammate, Joe Constandi, also of
Flemington, was also knocked from his third finishing position
for a technical rule infraction.
When
all the on-track and behind the scenes shuffling was complete,
Helberg took his first win of the year, while Rick Siddon of
Beachwood, Paul Hartwig of Brick, Tim O'Shea of Neptune and
Walls Rob Longo completed the top five.

Willingboro's
Trevor Alspach became the first INEX Legend Cars repeat
feature winner by topping the companion 30-lapper. It was his
second straight win.
Derek
Hopkinson, a junior at Toms River East High School, jumped to
the lead early and raced hard in the quest for his first ever
win. Meanwhile, Alspach was wrestling his way through the
15-car field and finally took the lead by diving to the inside
lane on the 24th lap. Alspach then raced on to victory over
Hopkinson, Kevin Nowak of Medford, N.Y., Newton's Mike Alcaro
and Robert French of Wall.

In
Sr. Champ Kart racing, Rob Schultz, Sr. and Rich Hand were
both winners, while Jeff Wienacker was tops in Micro Stock
racing. Steven Renn took top honors in the 4C SuperModified
race.

While
Wall Stadium takes this coming Saturday night, May 1, off, it
will feature action on Sunday as the fifth mile paved
"inner oval" continues the 2010 "Sunday
Series" featuring Go Karts, wingless Midgets, Legend
Cars, Bandoleros and Micro Stocks starting at noon. For more
information call 732-681-6400 or visit wallsundayseries.com.
Saturday
night racing action will then continue on May 8 as the Tour
Type Modifieds make their first appearance of the season in
Twin 50 lap main events. Also on the May 8 agenda will be the
Sportsman cars, Street Stocks, Legend Cars and the Factory
Stocks. Wall's regular Supreme Manufacturing Modifieds will
have May 8 off.
Wall
Stadium presents professional motorsports events on most
Saturdays and Sundays during the summer months. The speedway
is located on Route 34 in Wall Township, N.J., just one mile
north of Garden State Parkway exit 98 and Interstate 195 exit
35B. The speedway hotline number is 732-681-6400, while more
information is also available at www.wallspeedway.com.
